In line with its ongoing commitment to safeguarding community health and reducing infectious diseases, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) is launching a comprehensive awareness campaign in celebration of the World Immunization Week, which falls in the last week of April each year. The theme for this year is: “Immunization for All is Humanly Possible”.
The campaign aims to raise awareness among diverse community segments, including school students, parents and teachers, about the significance of vaccinations in preventing communicable diseases and enhancing community immunity, thereby contributing to the overall health protection of individuals and community.
In addition, the campaign aims to strengthen adherence to the national vaccination schedule established in Qatar, while also addressing misconceptions about vaccines by providing reliable scientific information as well as capturing the crucial role of health and education institutions in supporting immunization efforts.
“Schools and Kindergartens”
The campaign events are intended to take place in all government schools and kindergartens from April 24 to April 30, 2025. These events will encompass a variety of awareness activities tailored to be both interactive and engaging, including influential sessions and informative lectures such as visual presentations and lively discussions in classrooms to explain the benefits of vaccinations in a simplified language suitable for different age groups.
Specialists from the Communicable Diseases Section will also be hosted to deliver awareness lectures in schools, including a slot titled “Ask the Doctor” to encourage discussion and answer questions, and professional workshops for school nurses to upgrade their efficiency in communicating health messages about the importance of vaccination.
“Educational and Interactive Publications”
Throughout this campaign, awareness brochures designed with an appealing visual style will be distributed, emphasizing the significance of vaccinations and the dosing schedule according to the national schedule. Additionally, both printed and electronic immunization and vaccination booklet will be made available, incorporating QR codes that link to additional informational resources.
In terms of media and digital outreach, short video clips and visual messages will be shared on the official social media platforms of PHCC, showcasing the benefits and safety of vaccines. Moreover, targeted text messages will be sent to parents, providing important advice and encouraging them to visit health centers to complete vaccinations.
“Support and Follow-up Initiatives”
PHCC has stated that at the start of each academic year, the school nursing team reviews the vaccination schedules of students, identifies any incomplete cases, and communicates with parents through phone calls and text messages to ensure that vaccinations are completely taken at the designated health centers.
Furthermore, PHCC stressed that this campaign is an integral part of its strategies to foster a culture of health prevention and share evidence-based knowledge. PHCC urges all community groups to actively engage in the awareness activities and support the community mission of vaccination.
