The closing ceremony of the School Wellness Program was held at Al Sadd Health Center, attended by Mr. Mohammed Al Maraghi, Director of Health and Safety at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), along with the School Health Department at the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), school program coordinators, participating students, and program implementers including health educators and school nurses.
The ceremony was organized under the supervision of Dr. Eiman Abu-Elshwarib, Wellness Community Intervention Coordinator.
The event began with a welcome speech by Dr. Hissa Al-Muraikhi, Head of Wellness for Clinical Interventions and Senior Consultant Community Medicine. She highlighted the importance of the program and its role in promoting public health among school students and motivating them to adopt healthy lifestyles. This was followed by a speech from Dr. Abdul Hameed Al-Khenji, Head of Wellness for Community Interventions and Senior Consultant Community Medicine, who emphasized the fruitful collaboration between MOEHE and PHCC in enhancing health awareness within the school environment and supporting students in achieving better health.
During the ceremony, a video prepared by Hassan Bin Thabit Secondary School for Boys was shown, showcasing the activities of the School Wellness Program throughout the academic year. The video highlighted the positive outcomes achieved through continuous follow-up and awareness activities targeted at students.
The event also featured a special recognition segment for participating schools, school coordinators, and nurses who made significant efforts in implementing the program. Recognition was also given to program implementers who contributed to its success and expansion. Furthermore, schools that hosted the Active Life exhibition and the Student Weight Management Program were honored in appreciation of their active role in spreading health awareness.
At the end of the event, students who won the anti-smoking drawing contest—one of the key initiatives of the program aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of smoking—were honored. Female students who participated in plays depicting the themes of the School Wellness Program were also recognized, following the screening of a video of these performances from Al Shamal Primary Preparatory School for Girls. This reflected the program’s success in promoting school health and raising health awareness among students in creative and engaging ways.
This event underscores the commitment of Al Sadd Health Center, MOEHE, and PHCC to work together in instilling a culture of preventive health within the school community and enhancing students’ ability to maintain their physical and mental well-being, positively impacting their academic and social lives.
